Sheds may vary from their size based on the purpose it serves. Sheds which are used in factories and large scale farming are the largest ones.

These work sheds can also be used to store farm items like surplus seeds, irrigation tools, compressors or even industry based items. They can be made of wood, vinyl, plastic or metal etc. The most used is the wooden one although they are comparatively expensive. Vinyl sheds are economic and they serve the purpose pretty well. Wooden sheds have a very neutral look and it goes well with the natural atmosphere of a property surrounding. The wood sheds in spite of being the most expensive of the lot are one of the most durable. Customized wood sheds can be made with the appropriate color preservative and made to stand out in the surrounding or can even be constructed to blend in to its surroundings.

There is another specific type of shed called the tool shed. These sheds are made for the sole purpose of storing garden or farming tools. Tool sheds are most commonly of a moderate size which is provided with shelves and an area to work on. They are most commonly found in gardens where the necessity of a handy tool storage place is a must.
